Washington County Industrial Development Authority, known as the IDA, is committed to the economic health of Washington County. Established in 1979, we exist as a non-profit organization working hard to create economic opportunities for local prosperity. The original purpose and vision are the enhancement of our local quality of life through increased job opportunities in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and manufacturing facilities throughout the county.

Over the last four decades, the IDA has contributed to key projects surrounding infrastructure and industry attraction. IDA funding has primarily come from a ½ cent economic development sales tax passed by the community in 1993. Since then, nearly $19 million has been used as seed money to match grant funding at both the state and federal level for necessary infrastructure in the Industrial Park. So far, over 200 acres and 6 facility sites has been developed for businesses now and in the future. The installation of water, sewer, natural gas, and fiber create a healthy landscape for businesses to build, move in and provide new jobs. 

New jobs = a better local economy for our small businesses and more money to support our schools, police and fire departments, roads, bridges and all government offices.

The Washington County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at 501 E. High Street in Potosi unless otherwise specified.
