The Board of Directors for the Washington County Industrial Development Authority met on January 14, 2025 for the first meeting of the year. A rare ice storm prevented the meeting from being held at the normal time.  The board had a variety of topics and projects to discuss, but the main priority of the meeting was the approval of the 2025 Budget. The budget reflects the Board’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and to its’ focus on county improvements and business expansion projects that foster job creation and growth.

Consulting Director, Rowe, provided an update on progress in planning for the upcoming Sales Tax for Economic Development campaign with an update on the committee filing with the Missouri Ethics Commission. The Board was also informed about a meeting on January 17 with RISE Broadband to discuss their pursuit of a Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment grant through Missouri Department of Economic Development. In partnership with the Washington County Commission, the Board agreed to a virtual meeting with RISE executives to discuss a letter of support and opportunities for contribution to help secure the grant. Rowe expressed the communities’ desire to see broadband and high-speed internet options expand in the county. Rowe also presented information about the Industry & Education program which brings manufacturers, school districts, Mineral Area College, UNITEC, and community partners together to improve the local workforce. The Board approved a $500 annual membership for Washington County IDA to continue membership in the organization.
