Washington County IDA is celebrating Manufacturing Day 2023 (MFG Day) throughout the month of October. MFG Day, organized nationally by the Manufacturing Institute, is celebrated on the first Friday of October and serves as an opportunity to promote manufacturing, inspire the next generation of skilled workers, and foster an understanding of the vital role manufacturing plays in our lives and economy.
Washington County is home to 20 manufacturers representing a variety of industries. While WCIDA works to attract new business, it is simultaneously dedicated to the retention and expansion of local manufacturers and will use October to highlight their achievements and demonstrate support and appreciation. Washington County manufacturers include:
Buckman Laboratories, Cain Pallet, Central Stone, Custom Cabinets, Duffield Aggregates of Missouri, Eagle Cabinets, Edg-Clif Vineyard, Winery & Brewery; H2O Technologies, Harbison Sawmill, Jaycee Dental Creations, Midwest Textiles and Supplies, Miller’s Feed, Miracle Marine, Old Village Mercantile, Politte Ready Mix, Purcell Tire & Rubber Company, Red Wing Shoes, Reed Lumber Company, TNT Machining and Fabrication, and Webster Fabric.
These manufacturers employ over 700 workers and are key contributors to the local economy. Their commitment to community, innovation, and growth is worthy of recognition.
Additionally, WCIDA will support MFG Day by sponsoring the Career Mountain event at Potosi High School on October 19, providing learning opportunities about manufacturing and job skills to all upperclassmen, and by facilitating student tours of local manufacturing facilities in conjunction with the regional Industry & Education initiative.
“As a community with a rich manufacturing heritage, we are proud to support MFG Day and showcase the incredible talent and innovation of our local manufacturers,” said Jaclyn Rowe, Consulting Director at WCIDA. “These manufacturers are the backbone of our economy, and this month is the perfect opportunity to highlight their efforts, encourage our students to pursue careers in manufacturing and build on our efforts to promote economic growth and workforce development.”
