The Board of Directors for the Washington County Industrial Development Authority met on February 4, 2025. The board, again had a variety of topics and projects to discuss, with main priorities being clarifications on the park insurance coverage, the water-study being performed by Archer-Elgin, and city street maintenance in the park. The Board also identified two utility bills that need clarification and Director Rowe agreed to investigate for cost-savings.
Consulting Director, Rowe, provided an update on planning for the upcoming Sales Tax for Economic Development campaign, including the progress made on the www.letsgrowwashco.com website and Facebook page. The goal of both platforms is to provide transparency and education regarding the upcoming proposition for economic development. Rowe also informed the Board about the final plans for the Business Development Workshop, “Using AI in Business” set for February 7, 2025. More than 35 small business owners or managers of local organizations have registered for the free training event. The goal of this training is to provide all Washington County businesses and organizations the opportunity for professional development and to keep up with modern technology and resources that contribute to business growth.
