The board of directors for the Washington County Industrial Development Authority met on June 11, 2024. The board had a variety of topics and projects to discuss. The Board was updated on the progress of the new Economic Development Policy (EDP) and the policy was reviewed and discussed by the board. It was agreed that more edits would be made, and final approval would be requested at the July meeting. Plans to roll out the EDP involve the forming of a Business Advisory Committee and meetings with the City IDA, City of Potosi, and Washington County Commission. The policy will also be published on the IDA website. Additionally, Director Rowe provided updates on the creation of the Available Properties page, and the potential for the IDA to pursue a Bioeconomy Development Zone rating through a company called ECOSTRAT. ECOSTRAT will host an informational meeting for the Board in August.
Lastly, the Board of Directors and Rowe are working with multiple companies on expansion projects, with public announcements coming in August.
