The Board of Directors for the Washington County Industrial Development Authority met on September 2, 2025. The board had a variety of topics and projects to discuss, particularly the success of the “Ride & Drive” event hosted by Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. in the Industrial Park.  The event was supported by the IDA, the City of Potosi, and H2O Technologies who all worked together to develop a site for the tents and items needed to make the event a success for Michelin Tire’s team.

Consulting Director, Rowe, was unable to provide any further update from Archer-Elgin on the water supply study, noting again that the timeline has been pushed back due to other high-priority and deadline specific projects happening in the City of Potosi.  The board also finalized language for the request for bids for insurance coverage over all IDA properties to be published in mid-September in the Independent Journal. Rowe also updated the Board on various tasks related to upcoming strategic planning and spoke with anticipation about her upcoming meetings with local manufacturers to show the Board’s appreciation for Manufacturing Month in October.

It should also be noted that via quorum through email, following this meeting, the Board approved a $1000 sponsorship for the Career Mountain event at Potosi High School in October.  The event supports the IDA objectives to build the local workforce, starting at the high school level.  Creating a solid workforce also means creating and taking advantage of platforms for exposing students to local opportunities and careers in manufacturing as part of the national manufacturing day events.  The IDA will also host manufacturing tours on November 7 for educators, bridging the gap between industry and education in Washington County.
