According to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, more than $261 million has been awarded for 60 projects in Missouri through the ARPA Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program.  Washington County could potentially be impacted by two entities performing a total of 5 projects. Spectrum Mid-America, LLC, by its Manager, Charter Communications, Inc. was awarded nearly $11.9 million to serve Jefferson and Washington Counties and Steelville Telephone Exchange, Inc. was awarded just over $9 million to improve connections in Iron, Crawford, Dent and Washington Counties. There are 22 entities who were awarded and are now responsible for the 60 projects that will expand and improve internet access statewide.

“Projects receiving funds are expected to create more than 55,000 connections in locations that previously lacked adequate internet access,” according to Greater STL, Inc. newsletter.
